Stench and Stenchibility

Best cartoon on TV
Futurama remains the most entertaining, clever, funny and creative shows on TV today. Voice talent is superb, characterization (including Leela and Fry's unlikely on-off romance), animation is good, but it's the script and the zany explorations of ideas that really elevates this show. Of course as a result most of the dullards out in TV land don't get the show so yet again it's on the cancellation list. Have to hope that Netflix or Amazon pick them up!

Saying Goodbye
This show has been a gem from the first episode. It has the same winning combo every successful prime-time animated show has had, satire for the grown-ups and slapstick for the kids. A pox on Fox for cancelling it and kudos to Comedy Central for giving it a second life. Frye, Leela, Bender, Prof. Farnsworth, Amy, Hermes, even long-suffering bumbler Dr.oidberg, I amd my TV will miis you!

Greatest show ever.
I love futurama. Always have. Always will. The show continues to stay funny, relevant, and still sticks to what made them popular in the first place.

After the End

Fantastic Documentary
This film was so well done. I highly recommend sharing this film with your family and loved ones who are experiencing grief after loss. The personal stories shared are so powerful and offer so much hope--while still being so honest about the difficulty of loss. Bravo to the film makers on this one.

Loss and Love
"I am responsible. Although I may not be able to prevent the worst from happening, I am responsible for my attitude toward the inevitable misfortunes that darken life. Bad things do happen; how I respond to them defines my character and the quality of my life. I can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift I have - life itself" Walter Anderson

I know what loss is. I lost my father at a very young age and his being absent, his death defined my life from then on. After the End is a documentary about just that, how after the death...what are you to this world? The film tells the story of a handful of people. Sister loses sister, son loses father, son loses parents, parents lose a child, brother loses brother and so on. Each a complete story of love and death, and who they are in the now.

Its so important for everyone to share, to grieve, to keep remembering...

Who Do You Think You Are? HD Season 4 Episode 1
Excellent!!!... This is a wonderful series! I am glad to see it back for another season. I hope it will be around for many more. It was a major mistake for NBC to cancel this program. I am happy to see that it was picked up by TLC...

Family, history & geography
What's not to love? These are touching stories that teach so much about our values, choices made by ancestors and the influences of history. Can't wait for more!

Hallelujah! Who Do You Think You Are is back!!!
Why, oh why did NBC cancelled this series was one of the most bonehead things that network is done and thank God, TLC has brought it back to life. I have watched this series from the beginning and hope TLC continues with this series for many years to come. The first episode with Kelly Clarkson was the best season opener by far and I think this season will be one to remember. Don't miss out on this awesome series and RECORD IT!

Solid new show
Other than severe adhd editing, the show is fun, interesting and relatively informative. Rogan does a great job serving as host and I can't wait to catch the next episode! One of the few shows on TV that isn't total garbage, I only hope it continues to remain free on Amazon.

Frothy Loads!!!!
Powerful joe rogan!! Kale shakes bitches!!!! GSP got raped by aliens!!! Peace and love!!! This review was brought to you by square-space.com!!!

Unbiased and interesting
First of all, I love Joe Rogan for his intellect, honesty, imagination and no B.S. approach to practically everything. I'm an avid listener of his podcast, so having listened to them all I am very happy to be able to watch a television show which explores many of the same subjects that they get into on his podcast. If you are the type of person who appreciates unbiased and scientific exploration of fascinating subjects then you will most likely enjoy this show. This show has interesting topics and I can't wait until more episodes air so I can see Joe Rogan get to the bottom of more crazy s*** you silly b***hes!

Gettin' Goosed

By far the best of the competition based reality shows.
The best part of this show is the lack of fake drama centered around contestants fighting in the house. The focus is on the skill, vision, and creativity of the artists in the studio. What these artist accomplish in 2 1/2 days is amazing.

understandably addictive
From the moment I started watching Faceoff, I was hooked. The level of talent each season has exceeded the last. I am glad to have some of the vets back. I am proud of the growth in some of the vets as artists and some in their personal life ( Frank). Mr. Westmore is such an inspiration and the artists, vets and rookies alike are blessed to have him for guidance. Thanks for allowing us to see how it is behind the scenes and all the hard work and dedication it takes for special effects to look effortless.

What Reality TV Should Be
This is everything you could want from a reality competition show. The contestants are talented and creative, the challenges are diverse and interesting, and the show doesn't focus on manufactured interpersonal drama. Most of the drama is generated by accidents in the workroom, which I find way more interesting. You really get to see a lot of the process.

Face Off is one of my favorite shows. Highly recommend.

Transporting
I find myself eschewing American TV lately for these absorbingly realistic British series. The people in this show quickly seem real and transport you effortlessly into being part of their fictional world. In Broadchurch, the seaside town is a seemingly caring, close-knit small community. Their warmth and connection to one another is heartening, and immediately puts the viewer on notice that the murder of one the village's children will affect all who live there. The newcomer is the new DI Alec Hardy, who has taken the spot from his new assistant Ellie Miller while she was on vacation. References to a dark past make you wonder about his brusque, almost-pompous attitude, and heightens the tension between him and the close-knit police force & neighborhood he has dropped into at the start of investigating the worst crime the town has supposedly seen, the murder of an 11-year-old boy.

I enjoy how normal and non-stereotyped the British actors in this police show are, and...

This One Is A Keeper
I knew within the first ten minutes that this series is one I would follow. I could feel the tension, the suspense, as mom awakens after dreaming her son was on a cliff. As the morning moves on, she discovers that her son, Danny is missing. He has not been to school, did not go to his paper boy job, and doesn't answer his phone. She soon finds out her boy has died.

DI Alec Hardy has been on the job a week in this pleasant seaside town. Crime rate is low and we learn that he has had some problem with a previous case. He is brusque but efficient. He wants everything done correctly. He is called to the beach where the body of a boy has been found.

DI Ellie Miller, played by Olivia Coleman is superb. She returns from a three week vacation to find her promotion has been given to another, DI Hardy. She is very angry and frustrated, with no time to deal with her feelings she is called to the beach where she recognizes the young man who has died. There she meets DI...

Gripping first episode
There is nothing I can criticize about this show...everything is terrific. Usually, I'm well aware of even minor flaws, but everything from the casting to the directing, the acting to the cinematography, is all beautifully done. The story holds the viewer from the first minute. In a peaceful little town in Britain, where it appears that nothing much ever happens and everyone knows everyone else, a young boy is murdered. Immediately, like a stone thrown into a pond, the ripples spread out to engulf each person and each sector of the community. The actors have that wonderful British look: crooked teeth, wrinkles, a refreshing lack of plastic surgery and Botox, so that they look like real people and you can tell them apart. No lineup of Barbie dolls and stud muffins here! The location is just charming enough to emphasize the horror of what has occurred, and just seedy enough to emphasize that there's more to this than meets the eye. To top it off, a local newspaperman finds himself in...

SECRET AFFAIR

Just enjoy!
Mixed reviews usually mean that a movie, book or CD is worth investigating. This movie is worth checking out. The hero actually is nice and the heroine has a lot to think about. She is engaged to someone whom her upper-crust family expects her to marry. However, when she meets the hero, she realizes that she doesn't love her fiance nor does she marry him. There is a twist after the heroine breaks the engagement. This movie's plot is predictable in some ways just like any other, but some of the characters are not. It's setting is international and it has a delightful edginess. What I like about this movie, also, is that the characters could be for real and not just some body that looks good on screen. They are not Hollywood's ideal for movies. One can really identify and empathize with these characters.

Wonderful Movie. A must see.
I can not express how happy I was to see that this movie was available. I fell in love with A Secret Affair after seeing it on tv. It is a beautiful story with wonderful background for the film. I would recommend anyone who enjoys a wonderful love story to view this film.

Wonderful Movie!
I was thrilled to be able to find this movie on your web site. I have been wanting to see A Secret Affair again ever since it aired on tv in '99. Visually this is a goregous movie with many of the backdrop scenes highlighting the city of Venice. I so enjoyed the rather vicarious trip this movie provided. The main characters of the story are crafted in a way that we easily come to care about them and the paths that they follow. This movie will make the romantics out there laugh and cry and smile. It is a wonderfully evocative story and I recommend it to all who love a love story.

Crazy brides
I just love the narrative voice on this show she is sooooo funny. This is a good show I really dislike that it is going off after this season.

Love watching Bridezillas
I loved watching the bridezillas but the video kept having to load so that would be my only complaint overall.

Burned Out Bridezillas?
For years I used to watch Bridezillas for comic relief and a glimpse into the crazy situations the featured brides create for themselves. However, in the past two or three seasons of this show, many of the featured brides have just been plain mean and cruel individuals, so much so that it makes the show difficult to watch. Rather than serving as a nice distraction from the stressors of everyday life, Bridezillas Season 10 adds to it by broadcasting such obnoxious people. Perhaps it is a good thing that this is the final season of the show.

gold rush south america episode 5
this episode is nothing but high light from the first 3 episodes, I thought I was watching a repeat BIG RIP OFF IF YOU BUY THIS EPISODE

Episode Turnaround
Of course I love this show and that is why I purchased it. However...why aren't we getting new episodes? It's been almost a month...Prime subscription certainly isn't helping...

Still deciding about this series
I like Gold Rush as it brings out the prospector in me. The Alaska series has a great balance with the three different groups doing their thing, so I'm interested in seeing how they do with just the one crew.

I do hope that they continue without the stupid artificial drama that plagues most reality series, like Mountain Men, Swamp Loggers, etc.

The first two episodes were more of a 'let's look at real mining in South America' than a realistic search for a new place to mine, but still interesting.

I'll wait to see more episodes before I decide on this being a hit or a miss series.

Second Time

Just Wanted to Add Another 5 Stars
Continuum is worth the hype. After discovering season one while it was still just a small Canadian show, I've been salivating for the second season. In the months since the first season ended though, Continuum has blown up in the US and while I am incredibly grateful for this--I was worried that it would somehow be affected or influenced in a negative manner given a bigger budget and larger audience.

While the special effects used have been consistently top notch, the reason why this show works so well for me is not because it's scifi, but because of its emphasis on the characters. Personally, I think one of the greatest achievements of a scifi picture, is when it can let the viewer actually forget that is what they are watching. When the setting and characters are so authentic, that it's simply real. And I believe Continuum not only accomplished that in the first season, but that they are also nailing it in this season as well.

Part of the larger budget has gone...

First rate production quality, acting, writing and direction
I AM HOOKED!

I am a huge sci fi fan, have been since Star Trek TOS when it aired during my Junior High School years!(just really dated myself) Regardless, I stumbled across Continuum on Netflix and it took me a few weeks before I finally clicked on the icon to give the show a try, man am I glad I did! I watched season 1 in one week, but I had not realized that season 2 had already begun, so thankful for Amazon Instant Video. I am caught up now and the DVR is set for the rest of the season. This show is outstanding. Multiple character development, a flash forward flash back story line that keeps a viewer glued, hoping to figure out the next revelation. The ensemble cast does a fabulous job and Rachel Nichols lead character work is first rate, absolutely fantastic! The CGI is great, not too over the top and the camera angles used during some of the scenes really bring you into the action in a very unique way. each episodes Direction is superb and I have to give a big...

Even Better Than Season One!
I had a chance to catch the first 6 episodes of season 2 in Canada and all I can say is if you love season one, you won't be disappointed. I wish we could order Canadian releases in the states, but for some reason it is not possible...licensing for SyFy probably...but it's finally begun here so go buy the season!

Love it
I love Carrie and Al together and the cases they work on are not boring like some of the crime shows. It keeps me interested in the outcome.

1 more MUST watch for me
I watched all of season 1 on cbs.com before the blackout. I loved it! Couldn't wait for Season 2. Have always liked Poppy Montgomery and I love the depth of Carrie's character. Also that her and Al's relationship, personal & professional, goes back so far. In light of the differences between S-1 & S-2, I'm really liking S-2. There are things I miss from S-1, but also things I really like about S-2! It's natural for people to dismiss change, so I think/worry that some will automatically dismiss this new season. If you enjoyed season 1 and are on the fence about season 2, give it some time to play out before making judgment. Remember we're only in the 3rd episode. And, personally I think they've got some great story lines to work with yet! I say thumbs up to season 2!! **Also, love Jane Curtain's role!

Unforgettable season 2
I think it is a great show and do not know why is was ever cancelled in the first place.

Fantastic and Funny
This show has everything to make you feel good about life. I would dare to say it's the best reality show out there and nothing comes close.

I needed a little more Happy Happy Happy
I kept seeing Duck Dynasty in the news but really didn't know what it was all about, so I decided to watch a free episode on A&E. I'm really impressed, so impressed that I have now watched every episode from the beginning of season 1 to the most recent. The Robertson family is genuine, funny, successful and above all they are a Christian family not afraid to show their faith to the world. Research a little deeper than the show and you will find that they are actively living out the Great Commission, spreading the gospel and baptizing new Christians in the river near their house and this was even before the TV programs made them popular.
I very much recommend this to anyone that wants to laugh, needs a lift, needs to see that its okay to stand for your faith and still have a really good time or just wants to watch a program that isn't full of debauchery or disfunction.
Robertson family, I wish you many more years of influence on America.
Season 4 promises to be another...

excellent quality

Did I use that word right? If so, yay! for me. I'm great! Also great, this episode of NTSF:SD:SUV. It's a bit understated as episodes go, not a lot of different locations or big guest stars, they don't even have S.A.M, Kove, or the ugly scientist girl in this episode. What they do have is great performances from four regulars who seem to be getting more and more comfortable with their characters. I laughed a lot; good stuff.

entertaining for the reality TV fan
I know some object to watching "rich" people deal with their own set of issues, but those people should choose not to watch! I find it very relaxing and entertaining to watch this family and appreciate that they allow the world to share their lives. They are all flawed like the rest of humanity, which is very much "reality." Maybe this is why I like it. They feel and share sadness, love, loyalty, boredom, addiction, jealousy, weakness, honesty, etc. Having my own siblings I've always marveled at the way the sisters and Rob demonstrate sibling loyalty that is enviable and pleasantly surprising.
No one is holding a gun to your head - don't watch if you want to criticize or "love to hate" - it's reality TV at its finest.

Engrossing and Well Done New Procedural
I am a giant fan of procedurals--everything from the much acclaimed and very gritty The Wire to the BBC's Foyle's War to more frothy fare such as Castle or Rizzoli and Isles. (The Closer is another favorite). As such, I was delighted to stumble upon Motive, a summer offering by ABC which has been airing successfully in Canada already. LOVE IT! The format of this show is to reveal the killer and victim in the first moments and then let the story unfold that explains how they are connected and how the murder came to pass and, of course, the titular motive.

The lead actors, Kristin Lehman and Louis Ferreira, are very appealing. Ms. Lehman portrays a tough detective with both a snarky side and a very sensitive and kind side. The way she handles a victim's spouse in the opening moments of the pilot, showing a kindness for the awkwardness and poignancy of the moment, instantly and forever endeared her to me and such "real" and true feeling moments are a special aspect of the...

Great show
I love this show. I watch a ton of crime solving or detective type shows. I really enjoyed this one, the approach is totally different during the show while the police are attempting to solve the crime it shows you the person committing the crime. Its very entertaining and easy to follow.

Can't wait for Season 2

It is very tacky that ID channel only will let you buy these shows and doesn't stream full episodes for free on their website like most other channels do. Who even watches TV anymore...? Everything is on the internet and this show should be available for all to few at no additional cost. Great show, terrible money-grab on the part of ID channel.

excellent-well done. Less reactment than the other korny ID shows
This show is an acutally legit and well done murder documentary from Disc. ID. This is only show that presents actual footage of the interrogations and evidence videos. I have never seen a better murder investigation show, other than FBI Files. Which i cannot find ANYWHERE!!! But if you are wondering if you should purchase an episode......trust me, if possible, and just give a try. It is truthfully a GOOD SHOW. Hope my review assists someone. I dont type this expecting anyone to care what I say. Its just in case. Other people who write comments expect it to be read. Thats called--Narcisism. This is first and only time I will comment or review any show or video online. It is worth doing because I respect this show so much. Gracias for your time if you did read this. Conservative republicans are illogical. They are ruining our nation.....lol had to do it if anyone does read this.

Decently done
Compared to a lot of true crime shows out there, this is pretty decent. Besides weird head bobs and over-done head moves in general, Paula Zahn does a fairly decent job leading the show and conducting the interviews. The reenactments don't seem too gratuitous and usually are respectful to the families involved on the episodes I've watched so far. She does try to milk the emotions out of them though sometimes during the interviews and I don't like that. The crime is bad enough without trying to lead the victim's family members into some kind of emotional breakdown just for the show.
I like that the cases are resolved ones so you know what happened to the victims by the end of the episode.

Bleach 313

bleach season 22
Bleach is an excellent series. I don't like it when the main story is going and then the main story gets put on the back burner for episodes that have nothing to do with the story. Someone had to take time and write episodes for fillers so the main story could be written, but instead of wasting time with fillers write the main story!!!! The whole thing with Captain Aizen betraying everyone took place in what season 5.17 seasons later and there no closer to the final fight with Ichigo and Aizen. It's exactely why i stopped watching Inuyasha. Other than it's been dragging on it's a really good series.

Awesome series!
Excellent show, series doesn't have any technical issue with video and sound, both good:) definitely a must watch for anime fans;)

My Little Pony: Equestria Girls

I'm not even kidding - this movie is fantastic
So there are a lot of joke reviews on here right now, but here's some real talk: I just got back from seeing Equestria Girls and it really is excellent. The MLP cast and crew have created a movie that has every bit as much heart, magic, and quality as the series. The humor is still intelligent, the animation is still gorgeous, the characters are still themselves, and the writing is just as snappy and spirited as you'd expect from Meghan McCarthy. Don't judge Equestria Girls without giving it a chance, you'll be missing out on a gem of a film and a worthy addition to this generation of My Little Pony.

Review of EqG Movie only
I felt the movie was good for the target audience of young girls. The only problem was a demon at the end that might scare some of the youngest viewers.

For fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, there are lots of easter eggs, such as Scootaloo doing the chicken dance and Fluttershy's meeting Spike paralleling her original meeting Spike as a pony. (For non-fans, Scootaloo is a young pegasus type pony who was called a chicken by one of her friends.) Others aren't as obvious and can only be seen by watching the background characters. Watch to the end of the credits to find all the easter eggs.

Music for the movie was not of the same sort as in the broadcast series. Dan Ingram, who writes the song for MLP also wrote the songs for the EqG movie. But he wrote the songs in a pop music style that will appeal to children. Don't expect "The Art of the Dress" or "Winter Wrap Up". I tried to find a rating(UNRATED) or review before we went to see this and I was sorely disappointed to find a bunch of bad reviews, but they were all coming from adults. I wanted to know if this would be OK for my children to watch. So here is a review from a MOM.

My girls liked this movie, and I didn't feel bad about taking them. I didn't feel like I had to hide their eyes at any point, or remove them from the theater. Yes they had somewhat skimpy clothes, and Applejack straddling a chair in a skirt was a little over the top(nothing obviously showing), not something I want my girls doing, and that is why I knocked off a star, but I come from the 80's gen that grew up with Barbie and Jem in short skirts, and Teela and She-ra running around in cheek hugging bathing suits, and I turned out to be a fairly conservative parent. So really it's not that big a deal.

It was a genuinely good for kids kind of movie though, and taught about friendship, dealt with...

Dancing Ninja

An Amusing Blend of Unique and Ubiquitous
It's hard not to love a movie that will "hassle the Hoff" with a character name like Anson LaDouche! (Note to David: if you're going to rock the sleeveless kimono look, please wax those monkey-man shoulders!)

A blond, Americanesque baby in a basket washes ashore "Somewhere In Asia" where he is adopted by two loving parents. Dad runs an oriental take-out place--ubiquitous. Mom makes and rents instructional sex tapes--unique. Little blond Ikki grows into an unpopular but well-rounded adolescent, helping Dad with deliveries and dreaming, in anime, of becoming a Dancing Ninja.

Ikki seeks training from a martial artist who looks as Oriental as Emeril Lagasse, and sports a chest tattoo that looks like half of a butterfly, dragging a ribbon. When he is turned away at Sabu's dojo, Ikki finds an imaginary friend in an unplugged dance video game and spends two years learning to dance so well that only about half of the dance sequences require him to be shot from the...

The Dancing Ninja
A fun and entertaining comedy about a legendary boy who is lost at sea, and grows up somewhere in Asia. David Hasselhoff plays the campy arch villain. Overall the film is worth watching.

All About Ego

HULK SMASH
You get action, comedy and a lot of SMASHING!!!... what more could you ask for in HULK show with the HULK family (minus Betty "Red She-Hulk" Ross)?!?!?!?

Great new stories
I like the animation as well as the characters. The stories seem rushed, you know, they feel to big for a 30 minute show (which is what 17 minutes if your lucky) Anyway, it has great potential. Keeps me coming back every week and I am willing to pay for it so I can re-watch anytime instead of searching for a free viewing some where online.

Agents of hulk
Well it's a good series over all but has a few bugs in it but it has excellent potential to be an excellent series if it had a little more seriousness, also the villains on the show are excellent actually so far Hulk worthy villains that makes him show of his strength and power.

Taxi [HD]

Yellow Cab Fever!
Jimmy Fallon is a cop who is such a bad driver he loses his license. Queen Latifah is a cab driver with a souped up Taxi who is a great driver. When Fallon comandeers Latifah's cab to stop a bank robbery, vehicular mayhem and fun break out! Add to the mix the fact the bank robbers are Brazillian Super Models and you have a surreal good time for all!

Ignore the critics who have cut this movie to shreds. Its pure escapist fun that rates four stars. Enjoy!

Good Rental, Some Pretty Funny Parts
This movie is a good rental, but I wouldn't buy it, I like Queen Latifah and Jimmy Fallon so I thought the cast was pretty good. There were some pretty funny parts, One part I was crying because I was laughing so hard. Like I said it is a good rental movie if your looking for something stupid-funny too watch.

It Has A Few Good Moments....
This was a one of those movies that seems to go off track here and there. Jimmy Fallon and Queen Latifah fans will see the best and the worst of both stars. What you won't see is any consistency in this film.

Taxi is a movie that seems to change directors from day-to-day filming; there are scenes that have all the excitement and star quality of a "Lethal Weapon", and there are scenes that have all the drabness of a daytime soap opera.

Jimmy Fallon plays a cop who is not a very good driver and has an ex-girlfriend (so he says) for a boss. Their banter is not the least bit entertaining, even though I believe it is supposed to be.

Queen Latifah plays a bike courieor who finally gets her cabbie license. QL is an excellent actress, and at times I almost felt like she was doing everything in her power to carry this film. I think she is so appealing to the masses because she seems like such a "down-to-earth" person. She has a real charm on the...

The Hidden Face (La Cara Oculta - English Subtitled) [HD]

Good mystery suspense movie
I agree dont watch the preview because it will affect the suspense of the movie. Otherwise a decent mystery/suspense movie. The acting was good and I like the way the story progresses and then how it goes back and tells you what happened giving you the perspective of what transpired from the other main characters view.....while the motives of the individuals in the story line are flawed....the story line it self makes it a unique suspense story.........reminding me a bit of a kinda twilight story because of the twists that occur.........almost expected Rod Serling to appear to give the moral of the story as he did in the Twilight series....."There are weapons that are simply thoughts. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy."
Rod Serling

Six Episodes Of Cutthroat Courtroom Competition: A Solid, If Not Spectacular, Legal Drama From Britain
Television has been populated by so many legal dramas through the years, it has become increasingly difficult to make the genre seem fresh and exciting. "Silk" is just the latest affair from the BBC. Premiering in 2011, the show is ramping up for the debut of its third season later this year in Britain after having its second season nominated for a BAFTA TV Award for Best Drama Program. Unlike comparable American programming, British television tends to be served up in much smaller doses. Therefore, Season One of "Silk" is defined by only six hour long episodes. The show is based around a group of ambitious barristers (led by Maxine Peake as Martha Costello) who all seek advancement within the legal field. The next step up the career ladder is to appointed to the Queen's Council (QC) and that honor is referred to as "taking silk" due to the gowns worn at that level. As this is a merit based appointment, it is imperative to be noticed as a winner. So "Silk," while episodic in...

Very Good but not Terrific like Comparable BBC fare
There are so many outstanding UK law and crime shows that one can't help compare them to one another. This is another entry and it is a very good one but I can't say it knocks me out like so many of the UK series do. We first saw this setting in RUMPOLE, of the trying of cases by barristers and their all trying to advance themselves in the Inns of Court. Becoming QC is paramount, called "wearing silk" and hence the title. That is exactly what two barristers are trying to do, get the silk being dangled in front of them. So we watch them try cases while they go about this. There is no humor, like there was in Rumpole though, which is a big loss. Also, these cases are not riveting drama like THE ACCUSED, another UK law series which is absolutely fantastic. Nor is JUDGE DEED which had the absolutely splendid Martin Shaw hearing these cases as the judge. However, these are well written dramas about interesting cases. I would rent these, not buy them. I can't imagine watching them...

Polygamy Questions Answered

New season!
Just found out you could buy the episode before it comes out on tv and this was super convenient for me. TLC needs to have more episodes of Sister Wives. I think they under value how much people look forward to it. I noticed they did not promote the season but promoted Honey Bop Bop. No good! I would never watch that show! Keep Sweet!

the kids are great but...
... the adults are a little bit shady. When I began watching this show I was excited to see an example of polygamy that seemed "normal". Yet with some research one comes to find that these people have claimed bankruptcy at least three times (once Kody & Meri (2005) .... then Christine (2010)(also christine was receiving food stamps 9 months after filming began & had no heath insurance.. yet got preggers with Truly?!!?)Janelle filed in 1997) leaving the American tax payers to fund their life style. I am fully aware that monogamous marriages can also result in poor money management but I find it sickening that they never address this problem on the show and instead spend an entire season crying about not being able to buy four giant houses. My husband is a six figure government worker, we've been married almost 16 years and with only three children we couldn't/wouldn't attempt to put ourselves in that kind of debt. If one is going to make a reality show about themselves I suggest...

Re-run
It was a hour long re-cap of the previous season. Same thing over, and over, and over again. BORING!!!!!! Hopefully the rest of the season will be more exciting!

The League: Season Four [Blu-ray]

Crossing Lines
After two episodes I'm sold on this 4th season. Same huge jerks being punished for their awfulness. Same sensibility. All new lines that I did not expect to see crossed.

If you're new, this is a meaner Seinfeld. If you've seen the show before... it's more of the same. I consider that a plus.

The League is awesome!
I don't even watch football or enjoy fantasy football but the show is perfection...Jenny, Kevin, Ralphi, Ruxin (just about my favorite character), Andre, Taco (Jon LaJoie- love your music!), and Pete make this show worth paying for!

great as always
i was a reluctant to like this show but it's funny even if your not that into sports. Sometimes gross but funny!

Trouble With The Curve [HD]

I liked it
Your one surviving parent is slowly losing his sight. You have a very difficult relationship and, at the same time, are coming to a turning point in your own career. What do you do tend to, your career or your family?

Gus Lobel (played by Clint Eastwood) is a scout for the Atlanta Braves and has resisted the change occurring in his business and the world around him with every fiber of his being. While his immediate superior and longtime friend Pete (played by John Goodman) values Gus's opinion and defends him against his detractors, one of them is Pete's boss and Gus's ultimate superior. That man, Pete Silver (played by Matthew Lillard) is determined to fire Gus even though he is completely unaware of Gus's failing eyesight. To Silver, a man who relies on statistics and equations over experience and first-hand observation, Gus is a relic of a time gone by. Gus is given one chance, scouting a highly-coveted player in North Carolina, to prove his value to the organization...

Eastwood's Well-Rounded Return To Acting
After starring in the remarkable "Million Dollar Baby" in 2004, then following it up with the gritty "Gran Torino" in 2008, Clint Eastwood announced his "retirement" from acting, instead focusing on on directing/producing films. When the script for "Trouble with the Curve" came along, though, Mr. Eastwood decided that it was too good of a vehicle to pass up. Thus, in his return to leading-man status, the 82-year old thespian proves that his filmmaking (or film-choosing) instincts are as solid as ever.

For a basic plot summary, "Trouble with the Curve" focuses on Gus (Eastwood), an aged baseball scout who relies on his eyes, senses, and gut feelings to scout the top prospects. The trouble is, his eyes are failing and his job is on the line. As such, Gus's friend Pete (John Goodman) is concerned about him and gives a call to Mickey (Amy Adams), Gus's daughter. Predictably, the father-daughter duo do not share a strong relationship with each, and that is tested on a road trip...

Clint Eastwood May Be Slowing Down But He Can Still Hit The Curve
I have to say up front that I like baseball movies, a lot. Add that to my lifelong admiration for Clint Eastwood and the fact that I find Amy Adams to be absolutely charming and very easy on the eyes makes "Trouble With The Curve" a true home run for me.

It's obvious that Clint Eastwood is slowing down a bit with age, but that just makes him the perfect fit here for the aging baseball scout who scouts for the Atlanta Braves but is having vision problems. Since it's hard to actually scout anything without proper vision, his estranged daughter, played by Adams, who is a hot-shot lawyer on the partner path decides to join him out on the road for his latest scouting mission.

"Trouble With The Curve" is a quiet little movie that may telegraph its pitches a bit, but for me that just added to the charm of the movie. There are no major twists and turns, just a simple and heartfelt story being told with grace. Adam's character wants to know why her dad abandoned her...

Sherlock Holmes (2010) [HD]

Back to the Fundamentals
After reading the reviews from some of the critics I was surprised by how many of them talked disdainfully about this movie as a divergence from the source material. I'm assuming many of them were relying on the old Basil Rathbone movies to color their interpretation of Holmes. They seem to overlook the fact that in the actual novels and stories penned by Doyle Holmes was an artistically tempermental, manic depressive, physically powerful individual who annoyed Watson by conducting experiments in their shared flat. He had been a prize fighter under another name, he was a cocaine addict and, according to "the Adventure of the Empty House" he was skilled in one of the earliest "mixed martial arts", Bartitsu (misspelled by Doyle as "Baritsu"). Watson was a formidable former Army doctor discharged due to complications from a shoulder injury sustained in heavy combat while serving in Afghanistan. In many ways their depiction in this movie is much closer to their depiction by Doyle than...

Not your grandmama's Sherlock Holmes
From the opening when horses seem to be galloping from the back of the theater, through the gray skies and industrial grime of the exteriors and the dinginess of most of the interiors, relieved occasionally by gorgeous jewel toned luxury, this Sherlock Holmes is grittier and much more raw then its predecessors--a Holmes for the millenium.

Robert Downey's Holmes is a brilliant brat. He borrows Watson's clothes without permission, insults Watson's fiance at their first meeting, and drives Mrs. Hudson to her wits' ends, but he's also a guy who knows his way around a boxing ring and the one you want on your side when facing doom in the form of Lord Blackwood, an executed murderer who resurfaces at the head of a black magic cult bent on world domination.

Jude Law's Watson is an understated sidekick to the flamboyant Holmes, but their relationship is more of a partnership than in typical Holmes/Watson duos. It's fun to watch the verbal sparring and exasperation which...

A surprisingly faithful adaptation
I've watched this version of Holmes a number of times now, and I must admit it surprises me in its subtlety and intelligence every time. As earlier reviews have noted, in the main this is actually a quite faithful representation of Holmes and Watson in light of the original stories (which I've read and, indeed, taught a number of times). At the same time, it's an excellent stylization of late Victorian England, and I think that's how it should be understood: at once a faithful interpretation that brings out all the pleasures of the original and a commentary on Victorian society as it transitioned into the twentieth century (which is, I'd hold, exactly what Doyle's stories were--a commentary on the modern). To quote from another well-known and frequently-adapted Victorian novel, it's "nineteenth century up-to-date with a vengeance."

The structure of the story itself could well be one of Doyle's original stories. It especially reminds me of "The Adventure of the Speckled...

The Sessions

A Bold And Entertaining Movie Featuring Two Of The Year's Best Performances
After making a splash at this year's Sundance film festival, the provocatively themed "The Sessions" has created a fair amount of buzz both for its subject matter and for its performances. Based on the true story of Mark O'Brien, the movie tackles a topic that might make some uncomfortable--sex, specifically sex and the disabled. In an era where any amount of violence and gore is perfectly acceptable, I still don't understand why it is verboten for American movies to deal with sexual issues in a frank and adult manner. So I appreciate that writer/director Ben Lewin made "The Sessions" with a matter-of-fact boldness uncommon in today's movies. The movie is frank, explicit, and both emotionally and physically revealing. Instead of feeling unnecessarily prurient, however, the movie is surprisingly life affirming. It is sensitive about its topic, but also quite humorous. I was afraid the film might be a little too clinical, depressing or dispassionate but it is, instead, eminently...

"But the truth is, we're just human."
The Sessions is an extraordinary little indie film based on an even more extraordinary true story. In 1988, Mark O'Brien, a thirty-eight year old poet, journalist and advocate for the disabled living in Berkeley, California, decided to lose his virginity. This may not sound very extraordinary unless you know that O'Brien, severely afflicted by polio as a child, had spent most of his life in an iron lung and was unable to move any part of his body below the neck.

O'Brien's decision was prompted as a result of research he was doing for an article on the sex lives of disabled people. After interviewing a number of disabled people, and seeing how many of them were in fact enjoying an active and rewarding sex life in spite of their disabilities, O'Brien began to consider his own sex life, or rather, his complete lack of one, and how he might go about changing that. The issue was further complicated for O'Brien by the fact that he was a devout Catholic and what he was...

A Burdensome Virginity
How do you lose your virginity if you have been confined to an iron lung most of your life? A couple of years ago, I had some lively discussions on this topic with one of my JayFlix friends, a health-care professional who was attending a young quadriplegic. Now this film-festival favorite addresses the question, only this man isn't paralyzed with no physical sensations, instead he is a polio survivor confined to an iron lung since childhood. Furthermore, he is a witty, well-educated and frustrated adult.

Based on the real-life story of Mark O'Brien (1949-1999), a Berkeley poet and journalist, he was the first severely disabled student to graduate from college, earning a bachelor's degree in 1982, and acceptance to a post graduate program. His inspiring story has been told once before in a documentary film, "Breathing Lessons," directed by Jessica Yu. It won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short in 1997. This version is written and directed by the acclaimed Ben Lewin,...

Win A Date With Tad Hamilton!

frothy and delightful fun
This romantic comedy may be predictable, but it's also utterly charming, cleverly written, and wonderfully acted. All the young actors in the cast are terrific, and helped by the good script, are always believable; there are no lame lapses of dialogue that come off as insincere.
Kate Bosworth (seen recently as Sandra Dee in "Beyond the Sea"), is beautiful and sweet as Rosalee, a cashier at the Piggly Wiggly supermarket, who wins a date with movie star Tad Hamilton; Tad's hilarious management team (Nathan Lane as Richard Levy the Driven, and Sean Hayes as Richard Levy the Shameless), in order to rehabilitate their client's shoddy image invent a "charity date" scheme, never thinking that Tad will actually fall for the girl, which he does, creating a love triangle with Piggly Wiggly's store manager, who is madly but secretly in love with Rosalee.

Topher Grace shines as Pete the supermarket manager, as he tries to compete with the smile and abs of movie hunk Tad (perfectly...

Sugar And Spice And Everything Nice....
That's what Kate Bosworth is made of. Though I rarely go for flicks like this, every once in awhile one of them comes along and pulls at that little lovestring in my cold, cold heart. Kate Bosworth was born to play Frasier's Bottom, WV native Rosalee Futch. She has that all-American, good girl look. Topher Grace was perfect in the role of her idiot/best friend/secret love interest Pete. Josh Duhamel plays teenage girl heart-throb Tad Hamilton with flair. The rest of the cast, especially Gary Cole, who comes very close to Eugene Levy-esque father-figure status, is superb. Sean Hayes and Nathan Lane play Hamilton's agent and manager, Richard Levy. Yeah, that's right, they have the same name but play separate characters. Kathryn Hahn turns in a great performance as the local wild bartender with the hots for Pete.

The story is typical of puppy love flicks. The girl is in love with an untouchable man who, by amazing circumstances, falls into her world and quickly falls...

Light Romantic Comedy
Rosalee, a grocery clerk in West Virginia, enters an Internet contest and wins a date with handsome movie star, Tad Hamilton. Tad falls hard for Rosalee and shows up in West Virginia in pursuit of her. This doesn't sit well with her friend, Pete, who's been secretly in love with Rosalee for years. When Tad wins a part in a new movie and wants Rosalee to be with him during filming, Pete needs to reveal his feelings or lose her forever.

This is a good, but at times weak, movie. The romance is the weak part, there's no real chemistry between Rosalee and Tad on their date, so it's hard to believe he'd follow her to West Virginia. And it's also hard to believe that Pete hasn't acted on his feelings for Rosalee in all the years he's known her. The comedy parts of the movie work much better, with some of the funniest scenes taking place at a farm Tad buys.

The actors are really what make this film work. Kate Bosworth, Topher Grace, and Josh Duhamel shine in the lead...

A League Of Their Own

Good-Looking 2-Disc Special Edition!
The 2-Disc DVD Special Edition of 1992's "A League Of Their Own" (released on April 20, 2004) scores a grand-slam on my DVD Scorecard. Sporting a fun array of bonus features, a beautiful anamorphically-enhanced widescreen picture, and very clever menu screens, this DVD version of this timeless motion picture is a winner all the way around.

Although the film has a relatively-lengthy run time of 2 hours & 8 minutes, it never wears out its welcome or gets tiresome. The first-rate cast sees to that -- a cast that features the likes of Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Madonna, Rosie O'Donnell, Lori Petty, and Jon Lovitz.

Lovitz is fall-down hilarious as the scout who plucks Geena and Lori off of their Oregon farm to join the first professional girls' baseball league. He offers up one zinger after another during his short stint in this movie, such as his explanation to the other girls as to why he can't sign up second baseman Marla Hooch (who isn't likely to win the Miss America...

A Classic for everyone's collection.
Why is Geena Davis an Oscar-winner? Watch this flick; you won't need to ask that again. Her sensitive portrayal of Dottie Hinson highlights the many facets of Davis' talents as an actress. I loved watching a piece of history (however dramatized) which took place during my early childhood. Madonna and Rosie O'Donnell were surprisingly good as the loudmouth-but-secretly-caring-and-feeling Mae and Doris. You'll fall in love with Ann Cusack's "Shirley Baker", and poor, homely but super-star batter Marla Hooch is someone you just gotta root for. Tom Hanks gives us his usual fine performance as the arrogant, boozy and cynical (but in for some surprises) coach Jimmy Dugan. The chauvinistic/sexist way the female players were treated (professional baseball in a cocktail waitress costume!?) by management, the public and the press ("...after all, they're only girls.") will incense many viewers, but it's the way things actually were then. For the movie to be made...

One of the best movies I've ever seen
A League of their Own was one of the best movies I've ever had the pleasure to see. I had seen it years ago and recently bought my own copy of it. This movie is one of the best that Penny Marshall has ever directed. The casting was superb. Madonna and Rosie O'Donnell were perfect as street-wise, but loveable May and Doris! Geena Davis did a wonderful job playing Dottie Henson, who had a genuine love for the game, yet had responsibilities and priorities that were more important to her. Lori Petty was great as Kit, Dottie's little sister who fought so hard to get out from under her sister's shadow. Marla Hooch, what a great character!! Evelyn and her little boy Stillwell "Angel" will keep you in smiling all the time you want to bean him with a baseball bat. Ellen Sue, Helen, Betty Spaghetti, I feel like I know them all!! And Tom Hanks plays one of his best roles ever, as Jimmy Duggan, an ex-ball player turned coach. Not too thrilled with the job of coaching...

Chasing Mavericks [HD]

I just saw Chasing Mavericks, and all I can say is that it was AWESOME
IMO SLEEPER MOVIE OF THE YEAR - PG and awesome!

DISCLAIMER: I lived in Santa Cruz 1987-1992. I do not pretend to be a surfer, because I am not one. I have, however, done a lot of body surfing and body boarding (boogie boarding) in Hawaii and Santa Cruz. Plus as a marine biologist I have spent considerable amounts of time near, in, and on the ocean. With that being said...

"Chasing Mavericks" is probably the best surfing movie I have ever seen. This biopic of young Jay Moriarity and his mentor Frosty Hesson delves into the psyche and spiritual basis of surfing better than any other surfing movie.

Gerard Butler turns in a stellar performance as the sage surfer who reluctantly agrees to train a teenager to surf one of the most dangerous waves in the world - Mavericks.

To "get" this movie you have to understand this wave.

Mavericks is surf break just north of Half Moon Bay, CA. It breaks only when the surge is big enough and...

Inspirational!
I've found that many of the "sleeper" type movies turn out to be awesome films. I'm far from being a professional movie critic, but I enjoy films that are exciting and inspirational. Chasing Mavericks was no exception. Great movie and I am looking forward to the Blu Ray release.

Loved it!
Well done! Can't wait for it to come out on Blu-Ray! I am so glad that I got to see this movie on the big screen. It didn't stay in the theaters very long. Too bad for that since it was a beautiful, inspiring, humorous, emotional (a few tears) and well done movie about surfing and relationships. If you only like coastal northern California's beautiful scenery and wave action that would be enough to enjoy this movie. Add the real life story line of a father-son mentorship of Frosty Hesson and Jay Moriarity and this become so much more. My friends and family loved this movie. Gerard Butler did a fantastic job in portraying Frosty and braved huge waves to show audiences the powerful, dangerous side of surfing.....he almost drowned during the filming. This movie deserves multiple viewings and will make a great gift. Hope the DVD has a lot of extras attached!

March 4, 2013........Well it is a few months later and I finally received the Bluray! Absolute blown away with the...

Martha Marcy May Marlene [HD]

A Trauma that Bridges Past and Present
Martha Marcy May Marlene marks the debut of two talents, the director, Sean Durkin, and the actress, Elizabeth Olsen. Both actor and director show a kind of assured performance that seems relegated to those who are either new to a scene, when talent has been building up for some time and only now has had a chance to unveil itself, or to older creative types, who have enough success behind them that they no longer fear failure (the in-between is usually the tricky part). Elizabeth Olsen (and here I'm required to tell you that she is the younger sister to the famed Full House Olsen twins) plays Martha, a girl who has spent an indeterminate amount of time in a cult hidden away in upstate New York. She eventually flees the confines of the commune and is taken in by her sister and brother-in-law who own a spacious lake house in Connecticut.

From here the film is divided into two narratives, one chronicling Martha's ordeal in the Manson-like collective and the other detailing her...

Deeply Unsettling, With a Star-Making Performance from Elizabeth Olsen
A young woman called Marcy May (played by newcomer Elizabeth Olsen, remember her name) flees from an abusive cult and calls her sister Lucy (Sarah Paulson) to pick her up. Her sister, who calls her Martha, hasn't seen her in over a year and finds Martha deliberately vague about where she has been. Lucy brings her to the large home she shares with her husband Ted (Hugh Dancy) and Martha's time in the cult is revealed through intercut flashbacks. Branded Marcy May by Patrick (John Hawkes), the charismatic leader, the commune consists of few men and many women, most from troubled backgrounds. The women are assigned individual duties, but the one they all share is to sleep with Patrick. The film wisely avoids giving too many details about the cult itself and what its basis is, but fills in all the necessary details otherwise.

This 2011 indie thriller marks the debut of writer/director Sean Durkin who has fashioned a quiet, powerful psychological drama that introduces the world...

Elizabeth Olsen can't quite save this unsatisfying psychological thriller
Put newcomer Elizabeth Olsen on the list of brilliant young actresses filling the movie screen these days. In this psychological thriller, twentyish Martha Marlene (Olsen) leaves home after her mother dies. We don't know why, but she severs contact with her older sister, Lucy (excellent Sarah Paulson) who is married to Ted (Hugh Dancy). Somehow she ends up at a commune of sorts, headed by one of those Charles Manson types, but without the visible menace. Patrick (good as usual John Hawkes) clearly runs the show for his collective of young women and young men. What happens to them when they get older? We do know that occasionally children are born, but against all odds they are always boys. Hmmm.

After Martha (now renamed Marcy May by Patrick) is sexually abused, she decides to slip away into the woods. She finds her way into town and calls her sister on a pay phone. It's been 2 years but Martha doesn't know where she is. She thinks it's in upstate New York. Huh...

Inara, The Jungle Girl [HD]

save your money and just watch the trailer
Movie had nice scenery and great-looking women, but a plot skimpier than the jungle clothes the women wore. The plot was poorly developed and the plot half-baked. Save yourself the $15 and just watch the trailer, which shows all that you will to see and is barely expanded upon in the 70 min+ film.

Love this film!
From the beginning to the end this movie was a treat. The site of all of those girls dancing around the fire was a treat within itself. But that aside, there was a young lady that could steal anyone's heart! Her character did just that to this film, gave it heart. There is some butt-kickin' to be appreciate in this movie as well. This director has a tasteful eyes and the proper skills that could possible take him to Hollywood in the very near future!

Welcome To The Land Of Savage Beauties!!!
Inara, The Jungle Girl is a direct-to-DVD film that sets the bar for fans of classic Grindhouse/B-movie favourites. Inara(Internet model Cali Danger)is a brooding, self-hating Army sergeant who is forced to join a group of mercenaries who hates her to an island in South America to steal precious resources. After being attacked by her comrades, Inara had found herself in the jungle and being caught by a race of strong, beautiful, but vindictive warrior-women, all led by their lovely, but strong-willed Queen(Pin-up beauty Empress Sayuri). Convinced that she is not a threat to the women-warriors, Inara becomes a member of their tribe. When youngest member of the Tribe, a orphaned little amazon girl, is murdered by the evil mercenaries, Inara is enraged by the girl's death and leads her newfound sisters into a violent bloodletting against the ruthless soldiers. The only special features in this DVD is a synopsis of the film and the website for the studio who made this film. Most of the...

Thomas and Friends: Thomas and His Friends Get Along and Other Thomas Adventures

Thomas takes some getting used to
I read a review of a first-time Thomas viewer with a 20 month old who said she was shocked by the behavior of the trains--I can identify with that: My wife and I bought about six of them at once because they were on sale, only to be dissappointed by how mean some of the characters are. We've since come to love the videos, tho, since our little boy got interested in them, and sibling rivalry has erupted between he and his slightly older sister. Thomas and his friends act like children. Sometimes children aren't very kind either, but the engines respond to the gentle-but-firm redirection of the "parent" (Sir Topham Hatt). I think my kids love these (and I do, too) because they can identify with the simple sorts of conflicts the engines have with each other and the other characters, they appreciate the boundaries and safety of the parental character, and it allows them to explore conflict and authority in a way that is meaningful to them--the fact that Sir Topham Hatt has to step in and...

Narrated by George Carlin
We have been watching Thomas videos from the library for some time now and wanted to make a purchase.

I found that Thomas & His Friends Get Along is the ONLY DVD narrated entirely by George Carlin. All the other Thomas DVD's are Alec Baldwin (he's just plain annoying and lifeless). I know we're not the only ones who think so based on the many other reviews. We don't mind Ringo or George's narration but there are no Ringo DVD's available. All the older titles on DVD have been re-dubbed with Alec Baldwin's voice over.(DEAL BREAKER)

I know the narrator is never mentioned on Amazon so, for those of you who are interested...I hope this helped.

This is a great video for kids around 5 years old.
My 5 year old son loves this video. Its great for learning good moral values at a young age. He also loves to play with his Thomas wooden train set. They are a great combination. I would highly recommend the video and the trains to anyone looking for a QUALITY line of products for children around the age of 5 and up.

Class of 1999

Almost Time For The Ten Year Reunion
If you were to take Mad Max, The Terminator, The Warriors and Lean On Me, and mix them in a blender, you'd get Class of 1999. It was directed by Mark Lester who made the excellent Class of 1984. This movie is sometimes considered a sequel to that film, but it isn't. Both movies have high schools and violent gangs, but that's where all comparisons end.
In the near future of 1999, violent street gangs have taken over, so bad that the police don't even bother with certain areas of the city(sounds like Death Wish 3!). The damn kids are still required to go to school though! A mullet and contact lens sporting Stacy Keach has taken military battle androids and given them new programs to act as teachers. Three of these androids are given a test run at the worst school in the city where Malcolm McDowell is principal. Meanwhile, ex-gangbanger, Cody, is released from prison and he's off to school. Renouncing his old gang ways, he quickly becomes the target for former gang members...

Into science fiction? Try this one!
Ah, this is one of my favorite old movies. I caught this way back in 1990 or 1991. At that time the year 1999 (in the eyes of a fifteen-year-old) seemed to be a very distant future.

OK, so the year is 1999, and America's highschools have a tendency of turning into warzones. A possible solution to this problem is presented by highschool principal Langford, the Department of Educational Defense and a developer of killer-cyborgs, Megatech.

In Seattle, three new teachers are introduced in what little still remains of Kennedy High. Unknown to the students, their new teachers aren't even human. But when more and more students wind up dead it becomes clear that Megatech's cyborgs have grown out of control.

I love this movie! I have always enjoyed science fiction, and this movie delivers. It's got a bit of excellent action, provides some laughs and a spectacular final with some surprisingly good special effects! It's all got this sort of campy feel to it that I really enjoy in movies...

"Inside this school are three inhuman teaching monsters."
Hell yea, CLASS OF 1999! In the future there's a high school were the students openly carry machine guns and shoot them off all the time. Girls raped, nerds knifed, cars armor plated its like "Saved by the Bell" meets THE ROAD WARRIOR.

The Department of Education Defense decides to use this school as an experiment so they send in three "reprogrammed" battle droids as teachers. You can already see where this is going. Now it's like "Saved by the Bell" meets THE TERMINATOR in ROAD WARRIOR world!

Bad hair, futuristic gang clothes, lots of drugs, non stop gunfire, psychotic amounts of screaming and yelling, a drill to the skull, explosions, over the knee spanking, flame thrower violence, car chase, motorcycle chase, an albino mullet, forklift death the only thing missing is mutants and rampant female nudity.

Truly a masterpiece of the low budget action genre, but what else would you expect from the director of COMMANDO! "Let off some steam, Bennett."

Sholem Aleichem: Laughing in the Darkness [HD]

The Power Of Tradition: An Impressive Documentary About The Man Who Brought Us Teyve
Although I am not Jewish, I have a healthy respect and appreciation for the world of theater that is all-encompassing. I grew up with "Fiddler on the Roof" being one of my favorite musicals, and I can't tell you how many interpretations of it that I have seen through the years. Truthfully, though, the writer whose stories inspired Teyve and his cohorts, Sholem Aleichem, was not a household name for me until recently. Last year, the Archive of American Television released two classic Yiddish dramas from David Susskind's Play of the Week anthology with one of them being "The World of Sholom Aleichem." This DVD featured three shorts (one of them not even by Alacheim) that started my fascination with the man and his invaluable cultural and artistic contributions. So when I saw the documentary feature by Jake Dorman, "Sholem Aleichem: Laughing In The Darkness," it helped to round out a more fully developed picture of his place in theater history.

With a wealth of archival...

Who we are and Where we came from.
An important document for those of us with Eastern European heritage---and even more important for our children and grandchildren. Much of this was withheld by our parents and grandparents who came from Russia, Poland and Lithuania in their disdain of the "greenhorn" they felt they were, and their commitment to make a new life in the new land.

A treasure of a film
Excellent use of vintage film clips and photographs. The documentary clearly shows the life and times of Sholem Aleichem in well-edited detail.
